A Man at Arms: A Novel

Set in Jerusalem and the Sinai desert during the first century AD, this novel follows the turbulent period after the crucifixion of Jesus. Roman Empire officers learn of a pilgrim carrying a letter from a religious fanatic to insurrectionists in Corinth—a letter with the potential to destabilize the empire. The Romans recruit Telamon of Arcadia, a former legionary, to intercept the courier and retrieve the letter. Telamon operates according to his own code, indifferent to noble causes or religious beliefs. However, when he finally overtakes the courier, unexpected events unfold that neither Telamon nor the empire anticipated. This novel marks the author's return to the ancient world after thirteen years, following his previous works Gates of Fire and Tides of War.
