Oliver investigates the crime with help from his neighbors, including Ralph Waldo Emerson and teenage Louisa May Alcott, while Thoreau himself unexpectedly assists the investigation. Set in Concord, Massachusetts, this posthumously published novel contains intrigue and witty detail. The edition includes a foreword by the author's son.
