Angelmass

Deep in space lies Angelmass, a black hole that emits particles capable of making humans calm, reasonable, and incapable of lying. While Empyrean human colonies at the galaxy's edge benefit from these particles, the Earth-based Pax empire views them as a threat to humanity. Academic Jereko Kosta is recruited by the Pax to spy on the Empyrean and joins a ship hunting the particles. His discoveries prove both scientifically significant and morally troubling. When the Pax initiates an aggressive action that risks war with the Empyrean, Kosta becomes the only person capable of preventing conflict and revealing the true nature of what both sides are fighting over. The novel explores ethical questions through science fiction action and conflict between human powers.
