This is the third book in The Pedley Chronicles series. The first book, Beryl, Fred and a Dog Called Ted, follows Beryl and Fred as they sell their home and tour Spain in a camper van with their Cocker Spaniel, Ted. Planning an anti-clockwise route through the country, their trip in their VW Camper, Vernon, becomes unexpectedly eventful. A series of incidents redirect them to the south coast ahead of schedule, where one member of the group begins to act strangely. The second book, A Cat Called Cheryl with Fred and Beryl, picks up after Ted's death. Beryl and Fred travel again in Vernon, now accompanied by Cheryl, a cat who narrates this volume. After selling their cottage on the Isle of Lewis, they journey to the isolated village of Puebla de Don Fadrique, seeking to establish a new life under Cheryl's observation.
