Better Than the Movies

Liz Buxbaum is a romantic daydreamer who has long harbored feelings for Michael, her crush who recently moved back to town. Determined to get his attention and secure him as her prom date, Liz decides to befriend Wes Bennett, her annoying next-door neighbor, since Wes and Michael have become close friends. Despite years of pranks and conflict between them—including incidents involving frogs and lawn gnomes—Liz sees Wes as a useful connection to Michael. However, as Liz and Wes work together on their scheme, Liz finds herself enjoying his company more than expected. As they grow closer, she begins to question her assumptions about love and what her ideal future should actually look like.
