Carmilla

Carmilla is a Gothic horror novel that predates Dracula and centers on a vampire character. The story follows Laura, who as a child dreamed of a beautiful visitor in her bedroom. A decade later, Laura encounters a young woman named Carmilla after a carriage accident on the roadside. The two recognize each other from their shared childhood dream and quickly become close friends. As their friendship deepens, Laura experiences mysterious feelings and disturbing nightmares. She finds herself drawn to Carmilla in ways she cannot explain and becomes increasingly reluctant to leave her company. However, Laura's physical health begins to deteriorate. It soon becomes clear that Carmilla harbors a dangerous secret. Laura and her family must take action to break free from Carmilla's influence and protect themselves from the threat she poses.
