About this book

A contemporary retelling of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz set in a criminal underworld. The protagonist seeks out the Wizard to secure a new life, but faces multiple obstacles: her aunt Em, who wants her dead after she exposed a human trafficking operation; Westin Witcher, seeking revenge for her cousin's death; and a group of smugglers running Yellow Brick Taxi who control her passage to the Emerald City. The protagonist travels with three men—Crowe, who hides a violent past beneath a protective exterior; Danny, who presents himself as powerful but is actually a coward; and Nick, who is heartless. She possesses an emerald stolen from Eastin Witcher, which she plans to use as leverage with the Wizard. This is the first book in a contemporary why choose mafia romance series. It is not paranormal or fantasy. The second and third books in the series are scheduled for early 2024 and early spring 2024 respectively.
