Dayfall: A Novel

In the near future, nuclear winter has cast much of the northern hemisphere into years of darkness, and rising water levels have flooded the outer edges of Manhattan. The island is now ringed by a large seawall. The prolonged darkness and isolation have allowed crime to flourish in the city's endless shadows. When sunlight finally begins to return, conditions worsen. A serial killer emerges during the initial periods of daylight, triggering violent panic in the streets. The corrupt and apathetic Manhattan police are unable to respond effectively. The Mayor recruits Jon Phillips, a small-town Pennsylvania police officer who recently stopped a serial killer in his own jurisdiction. Partnered with a shady older cop, Jon investigates the crimes while navigating a twenty-four-hour nightlife unlike anything he has experienced. He soon discovers he was recruited for reasons beyond what he was told, leaving him with no one to trust. Forced to flee through the city's dark streets and underground passages, Jon struggles to survive, protect the woman he loves, and potentially save the city before the arrival of the mysterious event known as Dayfall.
