Derringer

Jesse Derringer is a troubleshooter for the Union Pacific Railroad. In 1867, the railroad announces plans to expand into Dakota Territory, establishing headquarters near Crow Creek Crossing at a site named Cheyenne. As new residents arrive—dreamers, schemers, drifters, grifters, and others—the railroad owners recognize they need a reliable man to handle disputes, oversee track-laying, and maintain peace. Derringer arrives by cattle car with two horses, bringing the eyes of a scout and a steady hand. He works to identify trouble before it threatens construction crews, though he sometimes creates problems himself. While he typically manages hot-tempered troublemakers with composure, more complicated situations require him to defuse tensions before they escalate into violence. Derringer is about to discover what true troubleshooting means.
