About this book

Jo Gunning is a former Army Civil Affairs specialist living as a loner with no commitments or fixed address. While enjoying her anonymity in Virginia, she encounters a runaway teenage girl who needs help. After assisting the girl in returning home, Jo receives a phone call in which the girl claims her father is holding her hostage. As Jo investigates, she discovers that the situation is far more complicated than it initially appears, and multiple parties are being dishonest. She finds herself under surveillance by both assassins and a shady government agency. To navigate this dangerous situation, Jo must draw on the skills she learned during her military service, as well as abilities beyond her formal training. Despite the risks, Jo chooses to stay involved and help rather than walk away.
