Perfect for you if...

  • You want to teach children about American history through a gripping true story rather than dry facts.
  • You're looking for a biography that shows real courage without talking down to young readers.
  • You appreciate stories centred on Black resistance and freedom that don't shy away from the brutal stakes.

Maybe not for you if...

  • You're seeking a picture book for very young children. This is middle grade chapter book at 250+ pages.
