How to Survive in the Woods: A Novel

Emma Sharp, raised by a doomsday prepper and shaped by the startup world, is trapped in a controlling marriage to charismatic Logan Grant. She views her marriage as a cage that provides safety but also confinement—until that safety fails. When Emma forms an unexpected bond with Logan's former girlfriend, the two devise a plan for Emma to reclaim her life. They set their sights on the Hundred Mile Wilderness, the remote and punishing final stretch of the Appalachian Trail in Maine. As the three venture into Maine's backcountry, desire and dread intensify into something unpredictable and dangerous. Lies emerge, someone is watching, and in the remote forest, someone will be lost or found. The novel explores what it means to be a survivor and what—or who—one would sacrifice to stay alive.
