Incarceron

Incarceron is a vast prison sealed for centuries that contains not only cells and corridors, but also metal forests, dilapidated cities, and wilderness. Only one man has ever escaped. Finn cannot remember his childhood or his life before Incarceron. He lives in the prison alongside other inmates in cells, dilapidated cities, and unbounded wilderness. When he finds a crystal key and meets a girl named Claudia, circumstances shift. Claudia's father is the Warden of Incarceron, and Claudia faces an arranged marriage that would make her a prisoner in her own right. She agrees to help Finn escape in exchange for his help with her situation. However, they discover that Incarceron contains secrets beyond what they initially understood. Their escape will require great courage and will exact a price they do not anticipate, because Incarceron itself is alive. Winner of the Mythopoeic Award.
