Thirteen Torland Place has a dark past: five murders occurred there in the nineteenth century, along with the disappearances of two teenage girls. When a student living in the house is found brutally murdered, Detective Inspector Joe Plantagenet investigates whether her death connects to the building's history. As additional similar deaths emerge, Joe suspects a serial killer is active—one who systematically deprives each victim of one of their five senses. The murders appear linked to Obediah Shrowton, an executed murderer whose presence seems to persist in the house. Joe must determine whether Shrowton is responsible for the evil surrounding the place, or if a different, more sinister explanation exists.
