Luda: A Novel

Luci LaBang is an established drag artist and star of a successful musical. As her career begins to fade, a new performer named Luda arrives after Luci's co-star suffers a mysterious accident. Luda bears a striking resemblance to a younger Luci and quickly captivates her. Luda asks Luci to teach her the secrets of stardom, including the Glamour—a mysterious discipline that uses sex, drugs, and the occult to create transformative effects. As Luci mentors her protégée, cast and crew members begin dying under suspicious circumstances. Luci becomes uncertain whether Luda has learned the Glamour too well and is using it to pursue dark goals. The story follows Luci's descent into the demimonde of Gasglow, a fantastical city, and into Luda herself—described as a femme fatale, phenomenon, and monster who may become the brightest star of all. This is Grant Morrison's first novel.
