About this book

The Poor Relation, a London hotel run by impoverished members of high society, burns to the ground. The genteel residents who work there devise a plan to save their establishment and livelihoods. Lady Tonks, a spinster, agrees to pose as a highwayman and rob her wealthy sister's coach as part of the scheme. However, she mistakenly stops the carriage of Lord Eston instead. Rather than thwarting her plans, Lord Eston becomes both an accomplice to her crime and a potential suitor for Tonks's debutante niece. As the bumbling Miss Tonks works to save herself and her friends from financial ruin, she proves to have unexpected resourcefulness. The story combines eccentric characters with lighthearted romance set in the Regency period.
