Set on 12 May 1940 in Westminster, London, during the early days of World War II, this novel follows Raybould Marsh, a spy from an alternate Britain. Marsh has traveled to another Earth in an attempt to save at least one timeline from Cthulhu-like monsters observing humanity from space—creatures that have already destroyed his own timeline. To protect this new world, he must eliminate all traces of the supermen created by the Nazi war machine, whose existence first attracted the attention of these extraterrestrial beings. Marsh's primary obstacle is Gretel, a powerful Nazi creation and mad seer who has sent a version of herself to this timeline to stop him. Gretel has foreseen her death across all timelines and is determined to prevent it, regardless of the cost to humanity. Marsh emerges as the only person capable of stopping her.
