About this book

An orphan girl discovers the mysterious Octagon House and its inhabitants, gaining access to a portal to America's past. Lorrie uncovers a strange secret connected to the eight-sided house, which is surrounded by local stories about witchcraft and hauntings. After climbing the iron gate to rescue a kitten from some boys, she meets the house's mysterious lady, who allows her to explore its unusually shaped rooms. In one room, Lorrie finds a rocking horse and a large eight-sided dollhouse—a detailed miniature replica of the main house, furnished as if someone lived there. The dollhouse draws Lorrie into a series of adventures that require her to act with courage and daring.
