Scorched Skies is the first book in an epic duology inspired by the Icarus myth. It follows Tanwen, an outcast woman whose very existence is forbidden, and Zolya, the Crown Prince of a winged race. In the world of Cādra, the winged Volari rule over the earthbound Süra. Tanwen is the child of a forbidden union and has survived by living in secrecy. When Zolya, acting on his father's orders, captures Tanwen's father and brother and takes them to his kingdom in the sky, Tanwen infiltrates the royal court disguised as a servant to rescue them. As Tanwen navigates the palace's intrigue, she discovers there is more at stake than her family's safety, and that Prince Zolya is more complex than he first appears. As their worlds collide, their relationship intensifies amid the king's oppression. With their loyalties pulling them in opposite directions, Tanwen and Zolya must determine whether their love can bridge the divide between their peoples or if they have flown too close to the sun.
