Fifteen years ago, four families across three states were murdered in their homes. Federal agents captured serial killer Elijah Barone sixteen months later, and he has served multiple life sentences in maximum-security prison since. Former FBI consultant Brooklyn Sloane agrees to teach a criminal profiling class at a local university. While reviewing successfully closed cases with her students, she discovers that Barone, though a killer, did not murder the Knox family. This means another killer remains at large. The brutality of the Knox murders compels Sloane to investigate further. Her research points to someone connected to the Knox family itself.
