The Good Thief's Guide to Berlin

Charlie Howard, a part-time writer and thief living in Berlin, witnesses a murder while committing a robbery. His criminal activities have been keeping him busy, distracting from his novel-writing work. Charlie is recruited by the British government to investigate four embassy employees suspected of stealing a sensitive item. He is tasked with breaking into their homes to find and recover the stolen property, but with a significant constraint: he is not told what the item is, only that he will recognize it when he sees it. While conducting his first break-in, Charlie observes a woman being murdered across the street. This unexpected discovery sets off a chain of events that pulls him into a complex mystery. The novel follows Charlie as he navigates this dangerous situation while adhering to his personal thieving rules, which now include avoiding witnessing crimes.
