About this book

Three fantasy novels set in medieval Gwynedd, following the life of Camber of Culdi, a Deryni noble whose magical abilities distinguish him from ordinary humans. In Camber of Culdi, the kingdom suffers under King Imre's tyranny. Camber, deeply troubled by the oppression of the human population, faces a tragic loss that compels him to confront dark magic and usurpers threatening the realm. Saint Camber finds the kingdom freed from tyranny, but instability remains. Dangerous enemies gather at the borders, and the new ruler struggles with his crown. To preserve the fragile kingdom, Camber must make an ultimate sacrifice and cease to exist. Camber the Heretic takes place when the king's young heir is only twelve years old. Malevolent regents ruling in his stead are determined to eliminate all Deryni. Camber, once revered as a saint but now condemned as a heretic, must protect his people from destruction driven by intolerance and hatred. The trilogy combines mysticism and magic throughout its narrative.
