Perfect for you if...

  • You enjoy police procedurals where the cop's moral compass matters more than the victim's character.
  • You want crime fiction that moves fast without unnecessary exposition, and respects your time.
  • You're already reading the 509 Crime Stories series and want to see what Dallas Nash does next.

Maybe not for you if...

  • You need a detective who's clearly heroic and unambiguously noble.
  • You prefer cozies or light mysteries over gritty street-level crime fiction.
  • You're starting this series for the first time and prefer to begin with book one.

About this book

Major Crimes Detective Dallas Nash is assigned to investigate the murder of a violent pimp. With no witnesses and weak evidence, Nash must decide whether to conduct a thorough investigation or simply go through the motions before filing the case as unsolved. Several people want Nash to abandon the case: the prostitutes who were abused by the deceased, a do-gooder with a shadowy past, and a cop with his thumb on the scales of equity. No one is pushing him to continue. Nash must choose whether to pursue justice for a man who preyed on others. The Mean Street is the sixth book in the 509 Crime Stories, a series of novels set in Eastern Washington with revolving lead characters.
