The Paradise Petition

Set in nineteenth-century Texas, this historical romance follows Daisy Lindberg and Lily Boyle, two women who have left their pasts behind to work as seamstresses in Autrie, Texas. They begin organizing a women's rights movement, which draws both resistance from the town's men and support from local women tired of being treated as possessions. Their cause gains momentum when Beulah, a shop owner, and Alma, a preacher's wife who has reached her limit, join them. Together, the group develops a petition outlining their demands for change. They find an unexpected ally in Matt Maguire, a sheep rancher who supports women's independence and is drawn to Lily. As Daisy and Lily's activism creates upheaval in the small town, their hidden pasts risk exposure. Determined not to let their history hold them back, they press forward as their personal relationships and new lives hang in the balance.
