The Revenant: A Novel of Revenge

Set in 1823 on the nineteenth-century American frontier, this novel follows Hugh Glass, a real-life trapper and frontiersman working for the Rocky Mountain Fur Company. Glass is an experienced and skilled member of the company until a scouting mission results in a brutal encounter with a grizzly bear that leaves him severely injured and unlikely to survive. Two company men are assigned to remain with Glass until his death, but they abandon him instead. Driven by a desire for revenge, Glass survives and begins a grueling journey across hundreds of miles of uncharted frontier terrain. Based on a true story, the novel explores themes of obsession, human endurance, and one man's determination to pursue retribution.
