The Sheltered City

Amon Vraja is the last of the halfdead, a group whose superhuman strength comes at the cost of being feared and rejected by society. He lives hidden beneath the enchanted leaves of the Last City, a realm governed by elves who prize beauty and have little tolerance for his appearance. When Caedian, a young and willful elf-lord, notices Amon, his isolated existence changes. Caedian asks Amon, who works as a brothel guard, to help find Caedian's missing twin. As they search together, relying on each other's abilities and compassion, Amon develops feelings for his elf patron—a connection he thought impossible. As Caedian and Amon grow closer and uncover layers of hidden truths, they approach a disturbing discovery about how the elves maintain their city's protection. When they learn what this protection truly costs, they must decide whether to leave the Last City or accept death within it.
