Harper Lee's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel examines honor and injustice in the deep South through the perspective of a young girl. Her father, a local lawyer, defends a Black man falsely accused of a crime, risking everything in the face of violent prejudice. To Kill a Mockingbird has been translated into more than forty languages and sold more than forty million copies worldwide. It was voted America's Best-Loved Novel in PBS's The Great American Read and one of the best novels of the twentieth century by librarians across the country. The novel served as the basis for a popular motion picture.
