Twenty Years After follows d'Artagnan and his companions Athos, Porthos, and Aramis two decades after their first adventure. France now faces civil war, with crowds inspired by Oliver Cromwell's actions in England threatening the young King Louis XIV, his regent mother Queen Anne, and Cardinal Mazarin.
