About this book

Anne Gallagher grew up listening to her grandfather's stories about Ireland. After his death, she travels to his childhood home to scatter his ashes. Overwhelmed by memories and the history surrounding her, she is pulled into another time. She awakens in Ireland in 1921, a country on the brink of war. Injured and confused, she is cared for by Dr. Thomas Smith, who is guardian to a young boy. Anne is mistaken for the boy's missing mother and assumes this identity, believing the woman's disappearance may be connected to her own. As conflict intensifies, Thomas becomes involved in Ireland's independence struggle, and Anne finds herself drawn into the fight alongside him. Caught between history and her feelings for Thomas, she must decide whether she can abandon her former life for an unexpected love. Ultimately, she questions whether the choice is truly hers to make.
