After Death

Michael Mace, head of security at a top-secret research facility, awakens in a makeshift morgue twenty-four hours after an event that killed everyone present, including himself and his best friend Shelby Shrewsberry. He discovers he possesses an extraordinary ability that makes him capable of being as elusive as a ghost. Michael sets out to honor Shelby by helping Nina Dozier and her son, John, whom Shelby greatly admired. However, his actions draw the attention of John's father, a member of one of Los Angeles's most violent street gangs. A more serious threat emerges in the form of Durand Calaphas, the Internal Security Agency's most vicious assassin, who will stop at nothing to capture Michael. If Michael dies a second time, he will not survive a third. Moving between Beverly Hills, South Central, and a walled estate in Rancho Santa Fe, Michael must protect Nina and John while confronting the forces arrayed against them.
