About this book

Eight strangers receive mysterious invitations to the isolated Château Darcrois in the Loire Valley in 1888. Among them is Lucien, a Parisian bookseller who is skeptical of the supernatural. They have been summoned to solve the Case of the Crimson Maiden, an unsolved crime that occurred at the mansion years before. During the banquet, guests begin dying one by one in ways that echo the original case. The evening becomes a deadly trap, and everyone present becomes a suspect. The deaths suggest something inhuman may be at work—but vampires are not real, or so some believe. Trapped in the château with mounting secrets and danger, the survivors must determine the truth before they all perish.
