Detective John Bowie of the Auclair Police Department in coastal Louisiana is struggling with his job security following a messy divorce and issues with alcohol. He remains troubled by his handling of the investigation into Crissy Mellin, a teenage girl who vanished over three years ago. When Crisis Point, a long-running true crime television series, prepares to air an episode about the unsolved case, Bowie's boss orders him to keep his criticisms private. Beth Collins, a senior producer on Crisis Point, has worked on the show for seven years. She believes Crissy's disappearance was not isolated. Collins has identified a pattern: several teenage girls disappeared in nearby areas, each on the night of a blood moon. With only four days until the next blood moon, Collins recruits Detective Bowie to investigate what happened to Crissy and identify the killer before he strikes again. As Bowie and Collins work together to solve the case, their professional partnership becomes complicated by a growing attraction between them, threatening both their jobs and their safety.
