Chalk it up to Love is the first book in Jill Haymaker's Aspen Ridge series, set in a small Colorado mountain town. Erin Midnight, a fourth grade teacher, returns to her hometown of Aspen Ridge following a recent divorce. She hopes to establish a new normal for herself and her ten-year-old son, Mark, and to heal in the familiar surroundings of her hometown. Boyd Garrett moves to Aspen Ridge after his wife was killed by a texting driver. No longer fulfilled by city life, he takes a teaching position at Peak Elementary School, seeking escape from painful memories. When Erin and Boyd meet at the school, both must confront whether they can move past the emotional walls they've built. The story explores whether they can find healing and happiness together, or if their defenses are too strong to overcome.
