The Unteachables: A Hilarious Novel About a Class of Misfits and Mayhem for Children (Ages 8–12)

A middle grade novel from Gordon Korman about a class of misfits paired with an unlikely teacher. The Unteachables are a notorious group of students removed from the general student body and isolated in room 117. The class includes Aldo, who has anger management issues; Parker, who cannot read; Kiana, who doesn't belong in the class; and Elaine. Their new teacher is Mr. Zachary Kermit, a burned-out educator in Greenwich whose career was damaged by a cheating scandal. Once a rising star, he has spent years disengaged and is one year away from early retirement when the superintendent assigns him to teach room 117. Neither the students nor Mr. Kermit expected to find common ground. Over the course of a school year, room 117 experiences mayhem and destruction, but also the possibility of redemption. The novel is intended for ages 8–12 and is suitable for summer reading.
