Circle of Days

Circle of Days tells the story of Stonehenge's construction through the lives of two central characters. Seft is a talented flint miner who travels to the Midsummer Fair on the Great Plain to trade stone and find Neen, the girl he loves. Her family offers him an escape from his difficult home life within his herder community. Neen's sister, Joia, is a priestess with a gift for leadership. As a child, she witnesses the Midsummer ceremony and envisions a monumental stone circle built from the world's largest stones. Joia's vision inspires Seft, and the two commit to making it their life's work, uniting the divided tribes of the Plain. However, as drought affects the land, tension escalates among the herders, farmers, and woodlanders. An act of violence triggers open warfare, threatening the ambitious project. The novel explores how this great stone monument came to define a civilization.
