Perfect for you if...

  • You love WWII fiction that focuses on ordinary people facing extraordinary circumstances, not just battle tactics and strategy.
  • You want historical detail woven into character-driven storytelling, where real events anchor deeply personal stakes.
  • You enjoyed the first book in this series or similar multi-generational family sagas set during wartime.

Maybe not for you if...

  • You prefer standalone novels and don't want to commit to following a series across multiple books.
  • You're looking for light wartime romance rather than the full weight of wartime sacrifice and loss.
  • You need your historical fiction to be tightly plotted and fast-paced rather than intimate and character-focused.

About this book

Eagles Over Britain is the second book in Lee Jackson's After Dunkirk series, continuing the story of the Littlefield family. Following the Battle of Dunkirk, the German Luftwaffe launches attacks on Britain from the air. With no allies to support her, Britain faces a critical battle that will shape the course of the war. The Littlefields are separated across different fronts. Jeremy, fresh from Dunkirk, is tasked with building a French Resistance network from former naval officers. Claire works at MI-9 headquarters and has developed an intelligence strategy that could alter the war's outcome. Lance is captured and far from home, while Paul, frustrated by his removal from combat, is being prepared for an unexpected role. The novel weaves together the family's individual struggles with historical events of the period, depicting their efforts to defend Britain through acts of courage and resourcefulness. The narrative combines intimate, personal details with the larger military conflict of the Battle of Britain.
