Exile: A Thriller

David Wolfe is a successful San Francisco lawyer on the verge of marriage and a congressional run. His life changes when Hana Arif—a Palestinian woman with whom he had a secret affair in law school—calls him. The next day, the prime minister of Israel is assassinated by a suicide bomber in San Francisco, and Hana is accused of masterminding the murder. David faces a difficult choice: defend Hana, who may be guilty, or turn away the woman he cannot forget. His investigation requires him to examine the lives of Hana and her militant Palestinian husband, both of whom have lived in exile. His search takes him to Israel and the West Bank, where he discovers that circumstances are not what they initially appear. The case culminates in a trial with international consequences. The novel combines an intricate story of betrayal and deception with a love story and an exploration of Middle East politics.
