About this book

Bounty hunter Stephanie Plum returns from a Hawaii vacation to Newark on Flight 127, only to discover that her seatmate—who disappeared during an L.A. layover—is found dead in a garbage can. Multiple parties, including the FBI and various criminals, are searching for a photograph the dead man was carrying. Stephanie is the only other person who has seen it, making her a target. Stephanie works with an FBI sketch artist to recreate the person in the photo, but the sketches prove unhelpful, resembling Tom Cruise and Ashton Kutcher respectively. Meanwhile, her life at the bail bonds agency deteriorates: Vinnie's temporary headquarters bus is destroyed, her colleague Lula becomes romantically involved with a major fugitive, and her longtime rival Joyce Barnhardt moves into Stephanie's apartment. Both Morelli, a local police officer, and Ranger, a mysterious figure in her life, remain silent about what happened during her Hawaiian trip.
