Extraordinary Powers

The director of the CIA, Harrison Sinclair, dies in a car accident. Whether he was a traitor or the Agency's most honest official remains unclear. Ben Ellison, an attorney and ex-agent who is Sinclair's son-in-law, hears rumors of sinister forces within the CIA that may have ordered the assassination. He is drawn back into the Agency and recruited into a top-secret espionage project involving telepathic ability. As the project's first success, Ben uses his newfound abilities to search for Vladimir Orlov, the exiled former chairman of the KGB. Orlov may hold the key to understanding Sinclair's death and the location of a multibillion-dollar fortune in gold removed from Russia during the final days of the Soviet Union. Ben's investigation forces him to confront his past and leads to a Senate hearing in Washington, where a secret witness is about to testify behind high security as an assassin moves to strike.
