Fallen Dragon

In the distant future, corporations function as self-sustaining communities with their own militaries, and corporate interests have replaced political ideology. Lawrence joined a corporate military on impulse but now sees it as ruthless and exploitative. His only path to escape is earning enough money to transfer to a better corporation. When his platoon is deployed to a distant colony to suppress local resistance, Lawrence sees an opportunity. He plans to steal the colony's legendary gemstone, the Fallen Dragon, to fund his escape. He soon learns the Fallen Dragon is not a gemstone but an alien life form that colonists have been protecting since its arrival. Lawrence must choose between stealing the alien to exploit its advanced biotechnical capabilities—far beyond human technology—or helping the Resistance return it home.
