Fighting Fox Company: The Battling Flank of the Band of Brothers

Fox Company of the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division, fought alongside the more famous Easy Company throughout the war in Europe, but their stories have received less attention. WWII veteran Bill Brown began researching a childhood friend who served in Fox Company, and met Terry Poyser, who was investigating a Fox Company soldier from his hometown. Together, they located and interviewed surviving Fox Company veterans over a decade to create this account. Told primarily through firsthand accounts from participants, the book covers Fox Company's combat from the D-Day paratrooper drop through Normandy, the drop into Holland with prolonged fighting and heavy casualties, and the Battle of the Bulge at Bastogne. The narrative captures the varied experiences of individual soldiers and the different types of German forces they encountered—from SS fighters to Volkssturm to Wehrmacht regulars. The book includes perspectives on figures like Dick Winters and offers rare photographs, rosters, and casualty lists.
