Five Feet Apart

Two teens with serious lung conditions fall in love despite a critical constraint: they must maintain a distance of five feet from each other to avoid risking their lives. Stella Grant has spent most of her life in and out of the hospital due to her condition. She is disciplined about following strict protocols to protect her health, particularly to preserve her eligibility for a lung transplant. Will Newman, who will soon turn eighteen, is focused on leaving the hospital and experiencing life beyond its walls. He shows little interest in his treatments or a new clinical drug trial. Stella and Will's connection poses a serious threat: any close contact between them could compromise Stella's transplant status or endanger both their lives. As their feelings for each other grow, the five-foot separation begins to feel less like safety and more like an obstacle. They must navigate the tension between their need for physical closeness and the medical reality that keeps them apart.
