From the Embers

From the Embers is a standalone romance by Aly Martinez about two survivors of a house explosion. The narrator carries a woman named Bree out of the fire, only to discover she is not his wife. Both are devastated by the tragedy and the loss of his wife. With nowhere else to go, the narrator moves into Bree's guest house as a single father. Over time, the two form an unlikely bond while processing their grief and guilt. Years pass as they gradually heal together, spending hours in conversation that helps fill the emptiness left by their losses.
