About this book

Gabriel Dax is a young man troubled by memories of a fire that killed his mother in childhood. He works as a travel writer documenting European landscapes during the Cold War era. When offered an opportunity to interview Patrice Lumumba, the newly elected president of the People's Republic of the Congo, Dax becomes entangled in espionage and deception. He falls under the influence of Faith Green, an MI6 handler, and becomes her spy, unable to refuse her demands. As his covert work intensifies, Dax experiences paranoia and passion while uncovering revelations about his own past that may affect his life and those around him. The narrative moves across 1960s London, Cadiz, and Warsaw.
