Goodnight, Vienna

In 1937, Katya Komarovsky is studying medicine in Glasgow when her parents' financial ruin forces her to abandon her dreams. She takes work as a governess in Vienna for a wealthy employer named Thor, caring for his twelve-year-old daughter Gretchen, a troubled child with exceptional musical talent. Katya initially resents the arrangement, but gradually develops affection for both father and daughter. When Hitler annexes Austria, Thor is arrested for his patriotic opposition. Katya becomes solely responsible for protecting Gretchen, who faces danger from Nazi medical research programs targeting those deemed imperfect. As the political situation grows more perilous, Katya must find a way to escape with Gretchen to safety while uncertain whether they will ever see Thor again.
