Himalaya

Michael Palin travels the full length of the Himalaya over six months, covering terrain rarely attempted before. His journey includes the Khyber Pass, the hidden valleys of the Hindu Kush, ancient cities such as Peshawar and Lahore, and major peaks including K2, Annapurna, and Everest. He also traverses the gorges of the Yangtze, the tribal lands of the Indo-Burmese border, and the Brahmaputra delta in Bangladesh. Palin faces altitudes reaching 17,500 feet and some of the world's deepest gorges. His route passes through politically sensitive regions, including Pakistan's remote north-west frontier, Kashmir, and the mountains of Nagaland, which had only recently opened to visitors at the time of travel.
