Cecilia "CeCe" Ashby returns to her hometown of Laurel Creek, Kentucky, and her family's equestrian ranch after ending a long-term relationship. She is uncertain about her future and seeking employment. Nash Carter, a recently retired player from the Dallas Stars, is a local business owner and lifelong resident of Laurel Creek. He grew up alongside CeCe's older brothers Wade and Cole and is considered part of the Ashby family. When CeCe needs work, Nash offers to help her. Despite a history of teasing between them, Nash finds himself drawn to his best friend's sister. CeCe appears to reciprocate his interest, and the two eventually act on their attraction. This is the first novel in the Silver Pines Ranch series.
