About this book

This collection contains two action-packed stories featuring Smoke Jensen, a legendary gunslinger of the Wild West. In "Brutal Night of the Mountain Man," Kate Coldane fights to protect her saloon from Silas Atwood, a wealthy rancher in Hudspeth County who seeks to dominate her. When her son kills one of Atwood's men, Coldane calls on Smoke Jensen for help against Atwood's gang of more than two dozen hired killers. Atwood, confident in his power and numbers, underestimates the reputation of the Mountain Man. In "Venom of the Mountain Man," Smoke Jensen intervenes when he witnesses outlaws robbing a stagecoach, killing one of the gunmen. The dead man is the brother of notorious outlaw Gabe Briggs, who retaliates by kidnapping Smoke's wife, Sally. Smoke boards a train heading east to rescue her, but Briggs's men are also aboard, planning to destroy the train and everyone on it.
