In Any Lifetime: A Novel

Dr. Jonas Cullen, a physicist, loses his wife Amanda and their unborn child in a car accident on what should have been the happiest night of his life—when Amanda tells him she is pregnant. Devastated, Jonas becomes determined to find a parallel universe in which Amanda is still alive. As Jonas pursues his search across multiple realities, he discovers that the universe tends to favor certain outcomes, and Amanda's death appears to be one of them. The novel alternates between scenes of Jonas's present-day efforts to locate Amanda in other worlds and flashbacks to their past romance and marriage. The story follows Jonas's attempt to defy fate and reunite with Amanda, raising the question of whether he will succeed in finding her in another universe or whether her death is inevitable.
