About this book

In 1908 Manhattan, retired detective Molly Murphy Sullivan leaves the city with her children to escape a typhoid outbreak. While pregnant, she heads north to Westchester County to stay with her mother-in-law, leaving her husband Daniel behind. Her friends Sid and Gus travel to the Catskills to visit Sid's family. Bored at her mother-in-law's home despite the pleasant countryside, Molly accepts an invitation to join Sid and Gus at an artist's community in the Catskills. Sid is reluctant about visiting her family in a nearby Jewish bungalow community. However, tensions in the region run high, and a body is discovered, delaying Molly's return to Westchester and drawing her into another mystery.
